  • Each full-time faculty member will complete a professional development plan by May 1 for the following academic year. Adjunct faculty are strongly encouraged to complete a professional development plan if they intend to request funds to participate in a professional development opportunity.

    What is Professional Development? 

    Professional development is learning and training that helps instructors grow in their teaching and work. By continuing our own education, we support our students and strengthen our community. 

    Aligning with CGCC Stategic Priorities

    When planning professional development goals, keep in mind CGCC's Strategic Priorities and consider how your goals align with them and how you can achieve them. 

    • Ensuring equitable access to education 
    • Advancing equitable student learning and educational outcomes 
    • Fostering economic growth, inclusive prosperity, and a thriving community

    Professional Development plans may address these specific objectives or expected outcomes with recpect to the following components: 

    • Content knowledge and skills in discipline/program. 
    • Teaching methods and instructional strategies. 
    • Related work experience. 
    • Study apporopriate to the higher education enviroment. 
    • Service to the college and the greater community. 
  • Professional Goals

    Please select a minimum of three goals and no more than five goals, which may include areas such as conferences, technology or training. In your response, clearly identify your top three goals and provide an explanation of what each goal is and how you plan to achieve it. Your explanation should also include the intended activities you will undertake in support of each goal.

  • Disclaimer: Funding for activities is limited, and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A Professional Development Funds Request form will still need to be completed and submitted to the Instructional Services Department for each planned activity. Approved coverage/reimbursement may be in a full or partial amount, depending on those available funds, determine by Instructional Dean and Office of Instructional Services.
